Our private tour southwards includes visits to artisan workshops where you can see demonstrations of black pottery in San Bartolo Coyotepec, carved and painted wooden figurines in San Martin Tilcajete, back-strap loom textiles and embroidery.  Hands-on experiences can be arranged: try your hand at shaping clay or painting your own alebrije and sample local specialties at a village restaurant with a diverse menu including mole, memelas and Tlayudas.

Tule tree, Weavers, Tlacolula market and mezcal distillery

The tour to several villages eastwards of Oaxaca includes visiting a family workshop in Teotitlan del Valle where you can see demonstrations of carding, natural dyes and weaving, lunch at the Tlacolula market, famous for its pit-baked lamb barbacoa, followed by a tour and tastings at a craft mezcal distillery and the 2000 year-old Tule Tree (with the widest girth in the world).
