Not to fret, there are some excellent options for a Monday in Mexico City!
Being a tourist in Mexico City can be challenging on a Monday, when almost all museums and historical sites, and even Chapultepec Park, are closed!
Of course there are markets to visit and neighborhoods to explore, but what else? With our Trip Support we give you suggestions specific to your interests, but here are a few general options you can consider:
-
- Pyramids of Teotihuacan are the most typical Monday choice, since they are open 7 days a week. This is a bit harder to visit on your own, as they are an hour and quarter drive from the city. Of course we offer this as a private tour, but there are also group tours, you can take an Uber, and it is even possible to go by public transport.
- More recently, the Secretary of Education building in Centro that is home to three floors of Rivera and Siquieros murals, have been re-opened as the Museo Vivo del Muralismo. Entrance is free, it is open on Mondays, closed on Tuesdays and holidays.

- Museo Soumaya – in Polanco. The building itself is worth a trip, and inside you have art from Mexican and European artists. We suggest you take the elevator to the top and work your way down.
- MUJAM is a quirky museum of toys from the 1950’s-80’s, with the stairwells and a large roof area dedicated to a huge variety of graffiti art murals.
Kiosko Morisco in the Santa María la Ribera neighborhood very close to the Biblioteca Vasconcelos.- Biblioteca Vasconcelos is a lovely library and cultural space, famous for its architecture. Take the elevator to the top and work your way down, to appreciate the architecture and the views.
- MUCHO Museo de Chocolate
